About Purfled
What Purfled is, how the data is fetched, and where the name comes from.
What Purfled is
Purfled is a set of small tools that read public web pages and return the data as a table you can download. Each tool does one job: the businesses from a Maps search, a company's LinkedIn details, a channel's posts, a video's stats.
The tools are free to use on this site with modest limits. The same data is available in larger amounts through a REST API on RapidAPI and as Actors on Apify, which is how the project pays for itself, along with tips on Ko-fi.
How data is fetched
- Only public pages, the ones anyone can open in a browser without an account.
- No logins, no cookies from your accounts, no CAPTCHA solving and no paid proxy networks.
- Requests run on Cloudflare. A few sites block Cloudflare, so those searches run on Apify instead.
- Each search is fetched live when you run it, so results reflect the page at that moment.
What is stored
Purfled does not keep your searches or their results. Your IP address is used for the daily free limit and held in Cloudflare's cache for about a day. Details are on the privacy page.
The name
Purfling is the thin black-white-black strip inlaid around the edge of a violin or guitar top. It looks decorative, but its job is practical: it stops cracks spreading from the edge. The double rule at the top of this page is a nod to it.
Who runs it
Purfled is run by an independent developer in the UK and is not affiliated with Google, LinkedIn, Amazon, Airbnb, YouTube, TikTok, Telegram or Substack. To get in touch, see Contact.
